"Mud" and "Take Shelter" director
Jeff Nichols is coming to New Orleans in search of young actors to star in his
next film, the Warner Bros.-backed sci-fi adventure "Midnight Special." An open
casting call has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7, to be held at the Hilton
New Orleans - Riverside from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Specifically being sought are
white boys between the ages of 6 to 10 to be considered for lead roles in the
film. Previous acting experience is not necessary.
"Filmmakers
are specifically looking for children who are creative and
interesting, perhaps with a particular wisdom, intelligence or 'old soul' quality,"
according to a recent media advisory. "Boys who are in gifted and talent
programs are encouraged to apply. All looks and body types are encouraged. We
are especially looking for a boy with large or unique eyes. If your child
speaks Spanish or another second language, please let us know at the time of
your interview."
