N.H. Film Looks for Cast in Jeremy Robinson's Bestselling Novel

ROCHESTER — Rochester-based, bestselling author Jeremy Robinson is now accepting auditions for a short film, The Owl, to be directed by Robinson and Ken Dodge. The movie will be shot this fall, Oct. 17 through 19, and will be premiered locally, shown at film festivals around the world and used as a launch pad for a feature length film. The Owl tells the story of two men, George and Chris, as they track down Amanda, a little girl gone missing — or taken — in the dark woods of New Hampshire...where something inhuman lurks. Classic frights mixed with a character driven narrative.

“We’re looking to cast actors capable of a wide emotional range,” Robinson said when asked about potential actors, which include a middle aged man and woman, a 20-something man and a girl, age 10–14. “The characters will experience everything from light-hearted humor to abject terror, and it all needs to feel natural.”

Casting Call for 'Doctor Who'

Comfortably one of the funniest autobiographies we've ever had the pleasure is Tom Baker's Who On Earth Is Tom Baker?, which we talked about in the Den Of Geek Book Club (which is a thing), right here.

Now, however, news has reached us, via The Digital Fix, that there's a one-off drama heading to our screens that tells the story of Tom Baker's early life. A casting call for a project called The Letter has appeared online, with the focus on "how a chance letter to the BBC when working as a builder's labourer lead to him becoming the most iconic Doctor Who".

'Guardians of the Galaxy' Auditions for Groot

In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ the gentle arboreal thug Groot, voiced by Vin Diesel, only has one line: “I Am Groot”.

However, every time he says it, it carries a different meaning. Think of him as a (only very slightly) more eloquent Chewbacca.

When we spoke to the cast, we wanted to know if any of the other actors could step in and cover for Vin for the sequel.

We auditioned Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista and director James Gunn getting them to read the line.

But, as our exclusive video above proves, Vin Diesel proved to be very canny casting.

Chris Pratt’s take is absolutely priceless.
